Come hang out with us on Soapbox Tuesdays!

If your holiday calendar isn’t full yet, we’ve got something to fill it with – PICnet is reinstating Soapbox Tuesdays, a monthly forum held at our offices  for Joomla and Soapbox users. We’ll discuss the up and coming, answer your questions, brainstorm, and give feedback where needed.

We’re excited to create a space where people can bring their lunch and their questions to chat about how technology is changing the non-profit world. As the year wraps up, it’s time to gear up for last minute changes to your Non-Profit Soapbox and Joomla Web sites. What better way to do this than by sharing some lessons learned with your fellow Non-Profit Soapbox and Joomla! users at PICnet!

When: Tuesday, December 15, 2009 Time: 12:30 pm – 1:30pm ET Where: PICnet’s DC Office – 1605 Connecticut Ave. 3rd Floor, Washington, DC (across the street from the Dupont Circle Metro station’s north exit, next door to Subway)

We hope to see you there! Click here for more details.

Joomla Tuesday SF wrap-up – August 8, 2006

Our first Joomla Tuesday on the west coast went great today, with a terrific turn-out, and lots of help from our friends at Aspiration Tech and Radical Designs. Meanwhile, the mean streets of San Francisco didn’t make it too easy to park a mid-sized car. After leaving Tahoe at 4am to get down to the City, I was hoping for that parking spot found in the first 5 minutes of looking. Nice try. I think I’ll take MUNI to the next SF Joomla Tuesday.

It’s always nice having a good diversity of individuals attending Joomla Tuesday, including end-users, consultants, and developers, and today’s session in SF was no exception. This variety provides us great questions to answer, and good initial feedback from people of different backgrounds, all of which help us better deliver Joomla to non-profits.

Big pat on the back to David Taylor, who in a pinch was able to get us a 21 inch CRT when I realized I didn’t have a projector for my presentation!

Joomla Tuesday hits both coasts

Just when you thought Joomla Tuesday could be contained to the Beltway.

Tomorrow, August 8, PICnet will be hosting two Joomla Tuesdays, one in San Francisco, and one in DC. It will be tough with the concorde no longer in service, but we’ll find a way to make both.

Joomla Tuesdays have been a great way for non-profit organizations and advocacy groups to get to know the Joomla content management system a little better. In each Joomla Tuesday presentation, we overview:

  • short history of Joomla
  • introduction to the community
  • who’s using Joomla?
  • reviewing resources for support
  • tutorial on basic administration
  • users’ questions…answered

Future Joomla Tuesdays will be focusing on more narrowly-targeted areas, like:

  • building online communities
  • blogging
  • integrating Joomla with other systems
  • templating
  • online advocacy

For this week’s session, we give many thanks to Aspiration and their new Non-Profit Technology Center in San Francisco.
